The purpose of this paper is to illuminate some of the complex realities of returning female citizens being abused by individuals with whom they live—especially intimate partners. By providing specific examples of the ways in which the reentry process can perpetuate, aggravate, and be affected by domestic violence, my goal is to encourage individual service practitioners to seek a more comprehensive understanding of their clients’ individual situations.
